WHAT IS AN ULTRA VIOLET STERILIZER?
It is a device that exposes water to ultra violet light rays. Ultra violet light is capable of destroying the DNA structure inside cells, thus effectively killing the cells.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN IN THE POND ENVIRONMENT?
We can effectively kill planktonic algae (the algae which causes green water) with the correct concentration of UV light. This means we can control green water in a pond. If the light is powerful enough we can kill off bacteria and if it is really strong we can kill parasites. UV lights are primarily used to control green water in our ponds.
